Beware of your Posting on Social Networking site,Goverment is using Internet surveillance system :NETRA

The government is going to  launch 'Netra', the defence ministry's internet spy system that will be capable of detecting words like 'attack', 'bomb', 'blast' or 'kill' in a matter of seconds from reams of tweets, status updates, emails, instant messaging transcripts, internet calls, blogs and forums. The 'Netra' internet surveillance system has been developed by Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR), a lab under Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO).

The system is capable  to capture any dubious voice traffic passing through software such as Skype or Google Talk, says a telecom department. "Intelligence Bureau and Cabinet Secretariat are currently testing 'Netra', which will be deployed by all national security agencies," the note says. "The specifications of the 'Netra' system can be taken as frozen following tests by the Intelligence Bureau and Cabinet Secretariat, and can be considered for providing multiple user access to security agencies,"
The 'Netra' deployment strategy was recently discussed by an apex inter-ministerial group headed by DoT's member (technology) and included top officials of the Cabinet Secretariat, home ministry, DRDO, CAIR, Intelligence Bureau, C-DoT and Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). The panel also deliberated on ways to respond to computer security incidents, track system vulnerabilities and promote effective IT security practices across the country.

It was also decided that 300 GB of storage space for intercepted internet traffic would be given to a maximum three security agencies, including the IB and Cabinet Secretariat, while an extra 100 GB would be assigned to the remaining law enforcement agencies, the minutes of the inter-ministerial panel meeting showed. Deployment of 'Netra' by security agencies is slated to pave the way for a national internet scanning & coordination centre, which India plans to establish along the lines of existing facilities in the UK, US, China and Iran.

C-DAC launches cloud-based telemedicine service:cuts telemedicine cost by 80%

Pune-based C-DAC(Centre for Development of Advanced Computing technology,Under Ministry of deity) has launched Mercury Nimbus, which appears to be an online EMR (electronic medical records) software suite, on the Windows Azure cloud platform, that doctors and hospitals can use to share patient data This technology promises reduce cost of telemedicine by at least 80%

It is based on cloud computing, can be used by doctors and hospitals on devices including tablets, smart phones and laptops with internet connectivity. Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies to provide clinical health care at a distance.

Pradeep K Sinha, head of the department of medical informatics group, C-DAC, declared the launch of the technology  on 1Sept 2013 during the MahaTelemedicon conference of the Maharashtra chapter of the Telemedicine Society of India, organised by the Indian Medical Association.

According to Times of India article :
"At present, doctors and hospitals have to invest a lot on creating the entire infrastructure to establish patient to doctor, doctor to hospital or hospital to hospital connectivity. With the new technology, connectivity between all these parties becomes simpler and faster, thereby reducing the cost of creating the computing infrastructure," said Sinha.
Gaur Sunder, principal technical officer at C-DAC, said that if a cancer patient goes to a nearby clinic and the doctors refers him to a hospital outside his present location, town or state, than in such a case, through 'Mercury Nimbus,' the doctor can virtually refer his case to the specialty hospital along with all the details of the patients, records and reports.

The doctor at the specialty hospital can study the records and through video conferencing prescribe immediate treatment to the patient and also give the next date of visit. The next time the patient visits the clinic, his reports would be sent again to the hospital and accordingly the specialty doctor can give him the time and details of his treatment or surgery date.

"In such situations, the patient's energy and money is saved from travelling within the city or from one city to the other. It is more useful in rural areas and public health centres where specialty doctors are never present. Also, the doctors will have the medical history of the patient electronically created, which will help in case of an emergency," said Sunder.

Broadly known as telemedicine, Sunder said that more and more doctors and hospitals are becoming aware of this technology that combine communication ways with information technologies for the delivery of clinical care.

All that the doctors or hospitals need to do is subscribe to Windows Azure, which is a cloud platform, through the device they own and secure a licence from C-DAC for usage. Once this is done, the doctors and hospitals can use the technology on their laptops, tablet or smart phone. They do not even have to maintain the system or have a server for storage.

Sunder said, "It is as easy as subscribing to Gmail to open an account and carrying out activities such as sending and receiving email, creating drafts and documents or pictures among other things. The rest of the part such as storage, up gradation and maintenance of the account is done at the backend." The subscription charges range from $15 to $150 per month.

The beauty and the aesthetics of a font are closely intertwined and are dependent on the font designer. CDAC, GIST has always kept these factors in mind when designing the font, which has maximal visual appeal and readability.
A total of 12 Naskh and 1 number of Unicode 6.2 compliant fonts are being made available to the public.
Naskh : Naskh, though cursive, is linear  in nature. Each letter joins the next moving from right to left. The glyphs change shape according to the place they occupy within the word.
Strictly defined by norms laid down by tradition, the visual beauty of Naskh lies in the seamless manner in which each letter joins  the next letter to create a text which is as attractive as a visual drawing.
Nastaaliq :  Nastaaliq is one of the most complex scripts to design. Nastaaliq moves both from right to left and vertically from top to bottom with the “nukte” or dots conforming to a strict placement order.
Nastaaliq demands strict conformity with a specific grammar which has been honed and fine-tuned over the centuries.
A well-designed Nastaaliq font as is shown in the Nabeel font designed by GIST C-DAC, has both a visual appeal as well as grammatical economy and correctness:

Gmail in New Avatar : Coming Soon

Google  announced a new inbox for Gmail, the company's email service used by over 400 million people worldwide. In a post on its official blog the company said that the new inbox would help users sort their emails better and focus on the communication that mattered to them. When I first used this feature it is really amazing because your email look much more cleaner when promotional mail from advertiser and networking site get clubbed in different tab.The (new) desktop, Android and iOS versions will become available within the next few weeks. If you'd like to try out the new inbox on desktop sooner, keep an eye on the gear menu and select Configure inbox when it appears in the settings options.

The new inbox, which will be rolled out to users in the coming weeks, will sort mails under five different tabs by default that is PRIMARY ,SOCIAL,PROMOTION,UPDATES,FOURUM .The primary tab, which will be visible to the user when he logs into Gmail, will be for the genuine and important communication. Email notifications sent by social media sites will automatically go under the Social tab and emails sent by e-commerce sites like eBay or Amazon will go under the Promotions tab. The two others tabs deal with confirmation emails and messages from mailing lists. This will surely minimize the user role in email filter
In other way, the new feature is similar to Labels and Filters that users can create within Gmail to sort emails.
However, the tabbed inbox automates the whole process and makes it easier, especially for less-technology savvy users, to sort and prioritize emails in a better way. By putting tabs on top of the inbox it also makes easier for users to access the emails that have skipped the main inbox.
There is lot more easy task of  selecting the tabs you want from all five to none, drag-and-drop to move messages between tabs.Google said that users who don't like the new inbox would have the option to go back to classic inbox.

What is QR code?

QR code (Quick Response Code) is the for a type of matrix barcode first designed for the automotive industry in Japan. Bar codes are optical machine-readable labels attached to items that record information related to the item. Recently, the QR Code system has become popular outside the automotive industry due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. The code consists of black modules (square dots) arranged in a square grid on a white background. The information encoded may be made up of four standardized types ("modes") of data (numeric, alphanumeric, byte / binary, Kanji) or, through supported extensions, virtually any type of data.
A QR code is read by an imaging device, such as a camera, and formatted algorithmically by underlying software using Reed-Solomon error correction until the image can be appropriately interpreted. Data is then extracted from patterns present in both horizontal and vertical components of the image. As a variety of industries utilize the QR code today, the applications for use can vary from product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management and general marketing purposes.

There are various online Free Utlities which creates QR code and Decode them
http://goqr.me/
http://www.patrick-wied.at/static/qrgen/
http://www.onlinebarcodereader.com/

These utilities helps to create QR code and encode data into it. Here I have created a QR code which is having a URL for http://www.todaytechtalk.info .

On using any of above utilities you can decode its information.

QR codes now a days is widely used  in Google's Android operating system and iOS devices (iPhone/iPod/iPad). The browser supports URL redirection, which allows QR codes to send metadata to existing applications on the device. mbarcode is a QR code reader for the Maemo operating system. In Apple's iOS, a QR code reader is not natively included, but more than fifty paid and free apps are available with both the ability to scan the codes and hard-link to an external URL.  Goggles is an example of one of many applications that can scan and hard-link URLs for iOS and Android. With BlackBerry devices, the App World application can natively scan QR codes and load any recognized Web URLs on the device's Web browser. Windows Phone 7.5 is able to scan QR codes through the Bing search app.

First webpage on Internet get revised on occasion of 20th Internet Annivarsary

Two decades ago today, the European particle accelerator called CERN gave birth to what's known as the open Web -- a technology that anyone can build without paying licensing or fees.

The challenge is most clear in the area of video, where patents and copy protection are at odds with the Web's openness.

Tim Berners-Lee, a physicist at CERN, started developing what he called the World Wide Web in 1989. After CERN released the software for free on April 30, 1993, the Web spread like wildfire to become a global publishing medium.
Father of Internet-Tim Berners-Lee with his First webpage

On Tuesday,30April 2013 CERN republished the world's first Web site as part of a project to reconstruct its earliest Web content and spotlight its move toward openness on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Internet

Source Code of First Webpage

The first URL was "http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html." For years, however, it has redirected to the CERN website's Web host root. But using the archive hosted on the W3C site, CERN put the files back online and recreated a 1992 version of the very first website.
