Tips & Tricks for using MS Paint

Tips & Tricks for using MS Paint

Here are a couple of Paint features and tips that might just help you take a second look at this old performer.

Tip #1 - Increase or Decrease brush size

These are universal shortcuts: CTRL + NumPad (+) increases the size of tip while CTRL + NumPad (-) decreases the size. This shortcut works for the pencil, brush, airbrush and the line drawing tool.

Tip #2 - Changing the Image Size

The above shortcuts (CTRL + & CTRL -) can also be used to resize image selections in Paint without having to drag the selection. Simply use the Select tool in Paint to select an area of the image and then use the CTRL shortcuts to change the size of the selection.

Tip #3 - Use the Eraser as a Color Replacement Tool

Say you have an uneven patch of yellow color on an image that you now want to replace with blue. You could use the Fill bucket command to fill that patch with Blue but since the shape is not uniform, lets use the Eraser tool to only replace the color that we want.

First use the colour picker tool to pick the (foreground) colour that you want to replace (in this case, left-click anywhere that has yellow). Now choose the replacement (background) colour by right-clicking in the color palette. Next, select the eraser tool and wave it across the image while you hold the right-click button.

Tip # 4 - Undo the Last Operation with your Mouse

MS Paint supports 3-level of undos meaning that you can only undo the last 3 changes made to a drawing. You can however undo (or rather cancel) the last operation using the right button of your button.

For instance, if you have selected the freehand tool to draw a line but if the line doesn’t meet your expectation, don’t let go the left button and click the right-button to cancel the last operation. This will save you from using the keystroke CTRL+Z to undo your last stroke and won’t add anything to your undo stack.

Tip #5 - Use the colour palette to store 3 shades

If you left click on a colour shade, it becomes the primary colour while right-clicking on another colour will make that a secondary colour. There’s however an option to store a third colour in the palette as well.

Just select the “Pick Color” tool and CTRL+ left-click on any one of the shades in the Palette or the canvas window and then CTRL+ left-click to use this new 3rd shade without losing the 2 earlier shades. You can then access this color by holding the Ctrl key while drawing.

And finally, for those still unimpressed by what can be accomplished by MS Paint in the hands of a skilled artist, take a look at this image of Mona Lisa produced entirely within MS Paint.

Now, send e-mail greetings to loved ones from beyond the grave

A new range of internet services have made it possible for users to now send e-mail greetings to their loved ones from beyond the grave.

These online services are being used to send birthday wishes to friends, congratulations on a graduation, and to keep spouses happy.

Before they die, internet users can programme the sites to fire off posthumous e-mails on key dates each year.

People using these services can even set up their own online memorial in advance.

The messages go live when the website is alerted to a subscriber's demise.

According to reports, these websites are part of a growing trend for "digital wills".

Though not legally binding, the online wills are aimed at ensuring that next of kin can gain full access to a dead person's musings on sites like Facebook and Hotmail, as well as passwords for internet banking and other e-documents.

One Simon Gilligan, 63, from Littleport, Cambridgeshire, has made a digital will on lastmessagesclub.co.uk, which launched this month, in tandem with a paper will.

"It has things like personal messages to my wife and children and various details of my bank accounts, e-mail and my Facebook account," Times Online quoted him as saying.

"I did it because I have heard of situations where people have died and it has taken a long time to get the information. This will make it easier for my wife and children.

"I would definitely consider setting it up to send another e-mail out to my family on a birthday. That would choke everybody up," he added.

Your credit card will not work after 1st August so Register now at your Bank

In order to make online transactions Safe & Secure, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has passed a new mandate with effect from 1st August 2009, wherein online credit card based transactions will include a new verification process. From the 1st of August 2009, every time you make an online payment, you will be directed to your bank's website where you will be asked to enter an additional password as an extra level of authentication.

So register with your bank before the 1st of August to continue your online transactions.
How it works:

What is process of getting this 'Extra Password'?

To get an 'extra password', log on to your bank's website and complete the registration process. On completion you will be given an extra password that will have to be used whenever you purchase anything online with your credit card. Different banks have different kinds of processes for registration. So we request you to contact your bank.

When will I have to provide the 'extra password' that I receive?

When you provide details of your credit card while purchasing products online from ClickJobs.com or any other website, you will be directed to your banks website, where you will be asked to provide your Verified by Visa (VBV) / MasterCard SecureCode (MSC) password. After entering the password you will be directed back to ClickJobs.com to complete your entire payment process.

Is the procedure the same for all credit cards?

Different banks have different kinds of processes for registration. So we request you to contact your bank. However in case of an American Express card you will have be asked to provide your billing address on the payment page, which will be verified by the bank. This technology is called Address Verification System or AVS. So ensure that you remember your billing address correctly, since with AVS your transaction will be cancelled in case your addresses do not match.

Windows 7 RTM Release Date Officially Announced

Last week Windows 7 builds claiming to be the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build of Windows 7 hit torrents. Only, it wasn’t really the RTM build, Microsoft announced midweek — the RTM build was still forthcoming. The natural question remaining was — when?

Microsoft has now answered that, laying out its roadmap for RTM releases to different parties. For its ISV (independent software vendor) and IHV (independent hardware vendor) OEM partners, it will be gifting them with the RTM build via Microsoft Connect or MSDN on August 6 (in other words, expect the official RTM builds to hit torrents then).

Microsoft Partner Program Gold/Certified Members will have access to the RTM on August 16 via the Microsoft Partner Network (MPN) Portal, with remaining languages available on October 1, ahead of Microsoft’s October 22 release date. Microsoft Action Pack Subscribers can get the RTM build on August 23.

Volume License (VL) customers with existing Software Assurance (SA) licenses can get their hands on the RTM builds via the Volume License Service Center (VLSC) on August 7. Those without SA licenses will have to wait until September 1.

TechNet and MSDN subscribers will get the RTM build on August 6.

Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc confirms that 7 beta testers will not be given free copies of the OS, but he also confirms that a Family Pack multi-license bundle for Windows 7 Home Premium edition is forthcoming.

He states, “I know there have been some rumors going around about a “family pack” for Windows 7. We have heard a lot of feedback from beta testers and enthusiasts over the last 3 years that we need a better solution for homes with multiple PCs. I’m happy to confirm that we will indeed be offering a family pack of Windows 7 Home Premium (in select markets) which will allow installation on up to 3 PCs. As I’ve said before, stay tuned to our blog for more information on this and any other potential offers.”

No information on the pack’s official pricing is available at this time, though it street prices have already been leaked. According to Microsoft, over 40 percent of Windows 7 beta testers are IT professionals, so Microsoft estimates a significant percentage will be eligible for (legal) copies of Windows 7 RTM.

email2sms: another free email to sms service provider

Few days ago Way2Sms launched email to sms service which sends an sms whenever you get a new email. Netcore Solutions, which brought the most popular MyToday free SMS update service also launched email2sms service. Get a free account at http://email2sms.netcore.co.in & start receiving alerts for each email you get. Email2SMS also has options to read complete email, reply, forward, compose new email etc. Since this is a SMS based system, user doesn’t require GPRS service or a phone with GPRS ability. This should work fine on all the mobile phones which have SMS functionality. Though receiving messages is free, you might be charged Rs.3 to Rs.5 for sending messages since it uses premium number. Few of the commands for using this service are provided below:

See how Google Voice works with your phones .Will the new Google voice idea going to change the face of telecom operators?

I’ve seen the demo video of Google voice service (Search for Google Voice in Youtube). To summarize the concept of Google voice “They will have the face of the telephony” just like they did to Internet!Visit http://google.com/voice for more inforamtions

When you register with Google voice, you will get your unique “Google Voice number”. You can connect all your phone connections (Office/home/mobile) to this Google number. You can divert the callers to the phone based on your convenience. For instance, if you are at a party you can divert them to your mobile, or when you are in office, you can divert the callers to your office number.

Now, callers don’t know where you are. But they will call your Google Voice number. Based on your settings, the call will be diverted to you! If you don’t want to wish to talk to some one, you can divert them to Google voice mail, and even you can receive the voicemail message in text format delivered to your mobile!

The best part is even when you change your mobile number; you just need to assign your new number to the Google Voice number which will be unchanged (like your gmail id).

It will help consumers for sure. But, for the mobile operators?

Mobile numbers are being the face of telecom companies. Imagine when more people go with Google number it will affect the brand equity of the carrier! Imagine if Google comes up with a mobile search (Already launched in Hyderabad,Bangalore India) and it diverts users to their voice search engine! Revenue lost to carriers.

What’s amazing in Google’ strategy is that when they have Interface to the callers they can get enormous database of customers mobile nunber! They can even use the numbers to send text alerts by tracking them through GPS and enable a location based advertising using Google maps, Google latitude etc!

Google might change the face of telecom carriers beginning today.

It’s too scary to imagine one company to be the face of Both Internet and telecom!

How to Secretly Hide Any File inside JPG/GIF Image File without using any Software

We can easily place video clips, pdf, mp3, text files, Office documents, zipped files, webpage or any other file format inside a JPEG/GIF image.

And when a suspecting user tries to open that jpeg/GIF file [with concealed/Hidden information] with a photo editing software or with Paint, User would not be able to make out if this disguise jpg file is different from any standard jpg image.

Suppose you want to hide some confidential word documents from your friends. What you can do is convert that file into a regular jpg image so even if anyone double-clicks this file, all user will see is a preview of the image and nothing else.

Here is the trick on How to do it:-

1) Just zip the various word Documents into one rar File.
2) Take any jpg/gif picture of any size and Dimension.
3) Copy the two Files in Same Folder. Let’s say we have copied the file in D: Drive.
4) Now open the Command prompt window. Move to the Destination Folder, in this case we will just type
d: and press enter (as our rar file and image are saved in D: drive)
5) Just Type the following command:

copy /b image.jpg + hide.rar newimage.jpg

(Here image is the name of the original image,
hide.rar is the name of the rar file we want to Hide,
and new_image is the name of the disguise image which contain both rar file and the image)

6) To get the original rar file, just rename newimage.jpg to newimage.rar and than extract it using 7-zip or Winrar.

Similarly we can hide other files like videos, mp3 and other secret documents.
Just Zip all the Files into Single rar files and Follow the above Steps.

Trick to open Microsoft office 2007 document in Microsoft office 2003/2000

Many of us have face the problem that we are not able to open Microsoft office files with extensions “.docx” – Word Document , “.xlsx” – MS excel file and “.pptx” – Powerpoint presentations in Microsoft office 2003 or office 2000.
This is because the documents saved in the office 2007 are not backward compatible directly. But there is a very useful and easy add-on available from Microsoft itself.

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack

This compatibility pack will let you open the newer MS office documents with extensions .docx , .xlsx and .pptx with the older versions of MS Office 2003 and Office 2000. You will also be able to open, edit, and save files using the file formats new to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007. You simply need to download Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack and install it on your computer which has the older version of MS office.
That’s It!!!

Google to launch operating system to rival Microsoft

The search engine, which already offers a suite of email, web and other software products that compete with Microsoft, said the system could be used by computers ranging from ultra-compact netbooks to full-size desktop PCs.

The new software, called the Google Chrome Operating System, will be in netbooks for consumers in the second half of 2010 and aims to make web applications easier to use.

"The operating systems that browsers run on were designed in an era where there was no web," Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management at Google.

"The Chrome OS is our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be".

Google said it was already working with a number of manufacturers to produce and distribute the system.

"It's been part of their culture to go after and remove Microsoft as a major holder of technology, and this is part of their strategy to do it," said Rob Enderle, principal analyst at Enderle Group.

"This could be very disruptive. If they can execute, Microsoft is vulnerable to an attack like this, and they know it."

Google and Microsoft have often locked horns over the years in a variety of markets, from internet search to mobile software. Microsoft Windows is currently installed in more than 90 per cent of the world's PCs.

A key factor will be whether Google can strike partnerships with PC makers, such as Hewlett-Packard Co and Dell Inc, which currently offer Windows on most of their product lines.

Google's Chrome Internet browser, launched in late 2008, remains a distant fourth in the Web browser market, with a 1.2 per cent share in February, according to market research firm Net Applications. Microsoft's Internet Explorer continues to dominate, with nearly 70 per cent.

A spokesman for Microsoft had no immediate comment.

Google said Chrome OS was a new project, separate from its Android mobile operating software found in some smartphones. Acer Inc, the world's No.3 PC brand, has already agreed to sell netbooks that run Android.

Send SMS From Google for India Mobile Users

Good News for India mobile users. Now you can send sms from Google. Yes Google SMS Channels from Google Labs has provided this technology. This is still in development phase so use it as if it was never there. The reason I say this is that if there are any major problems in this then they might take it down anytime.

I did a testing with MTNL, Orange & Airtel numbers and all the sms reached immediately. You can create a group among your friend and families and send group messages without paying.

You can also receive Blog updates via feeds as SMS too. There are many Indian languages supported too. I came up with a idea on how to send SMS through email using Google SMS Channel.

You need to create a free Google blog initially. Add your friends as Author and invite them from Settings-->Permission tab. Ask all your friends to create a Mail-to-Blogger Address by going to Settings-->Email tab and add numbers or name in the blank name. Make sure that "Publish email immediately" is checked and save it.

This way for e.g. if their email address is sanjaybrao.sanzrao@gmail.com and they have added "email123" to sanjaybrao.sanzrao.email123@blogger.com, then they can send email to sanjaybrao.sanzrao.email123@blogger.com and their posts will get published immediately.

Next you need to register at Google SMS Channel with your blog feeds & ask your friends to send email to above created email with just subject (Note only subject field will be sent out as sms). This way whenever any of your groups send an sms it will reach to all the authors of this blog.

Happy SMSing!!

Google Events & Holidays Logo

If you have missed previous Google Logo’s then you can visit http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html to find the logo’s. The collections of logos listed here are not the complete list. If you want to find more logo’s which Google had displayed across all the countries then follow this step:

1) Go to Google Search
2) Search for “site:www.google.com/logos” without double quotes
3) The search result will show you all the links to the pages grouped either by events or month. Clicking on these links will not give you anything. The trick is in next step
4) Click on “Cached” link below each link. Eureka, you now have all the old Google Logo’s.

Please note you cannot use these logo’s for your sites. It is just for viewing only.

How To Disable Google.com From Redirecting To Your Local Country Google Domain

You must have noticed that Google redirects you to your country specific Google domain name even if you had typed Google.com. i.e. google.com will redirect to google.co.in if you live in India. This results in displaying the country specific searches in the search result. So if you want to avoid this and use Google.com for your search query then just a simple url will do the trick.

google_redirect
The trick is to just type http://www.google.com/ncr instead of just typing http://www.google.com in the address bar, where ncr stands for “No Country Redirect”.

Next time you type Google.com it won’t get redirected to Google.co.in. If you need to go to Google.co.in then you can specifically type http://www.google.co.in in the address bar. Also if you need to reset it to original just delete all the cookies from your browser.

Get email address @msn.com

Very few know that you can have email address @msn.com which can be accessed in same way as hotmail.com. If you are interested in getting one just click here & register yourself.

This is better than @hotmail.com as it is small and very easy to remember. To access your email @msn.com, just go to hotmail.com and enter your registered email and the password.

So what are you waiting for.. Grab your id before it is too late!!

Login To Multi Accounts Simultaneously In Same Site Using IE8

How many of you have multiple accounts for same site, say Yahoo or Orkut ie8_logo or some other email or networking site or forums, which you would like to browse simultaneously. One of the option available was to install different browsers and then log in into the same site using different ids. But with the new features of Internet Explorer 8 you can do this within IE8 itself.

To make use of this feature, instead of creating a new tab, select “New Session” from File menu. Thus each new session will have its own cookies which will allow you to browse same site with simultaneous multiple ids.
